TechFlow, April 10 — According to NPR, after having dinner with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at Mar-a-Lago, President Trump decided to pause the planned restrictions on exporting Nvidia's H20 chips to China. Sources indicated that this policy shift is linked to Nvidia's commitment to increase investments in U.S. AI data centers. The H20 is currently the most advanced AI chip that U.S. companies can legally export to China. Chinese tech firms have stockpiled approximately $16 billion worth of such chips in the first quarter of this year amid expectations of U.S. restrictions. Experts say this decision is a major win for China, as its domestic chip production and performance remain insufficient. Some U.S. lawmakers expressed concern, arguing that every day of delay provides adversarial nations with opportunities to build up technological reserves.
