TechFlow news, April 4 — According to Decrypt, OpenAI has announced a two-month free access to ChatGPT Plus for currently enrolled college students at accredited universities in the United States and Canada.
Eligible students can claim this benefit between March 31, 2025, and May 31, 2025. OpenAI stated that the initiative aims to help students navigate finals season by offering support in research, content summarization, brainstorming, and writing editing.
Notably, one day prior to this announcement, its competitor Anthropic also launched a student-focused program related to Claude.
Data released by OpenAI in February this year indicates that one-third of U.S. college-aged users are currently using ChatGPT, with approximately 25% of conversations relating to learning and academic work. However, concerns among educators about AI tools potentially degrading students' critical thinking abilities continue to grow.
