TechFlow news, April 3 — According to Decrypt, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added eight TRON wallet addresses linked to Houthi financial facilitators to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) list.
These wallets are associated with Sa'id al-Jamal, an Iranian national and senior financial official of the Houthi movement. Data from blockchain explorer TokenView shows these addresses have been active since 2023, primarily transacting in USDT stablecoins, with individual transactions reaching up to $1 million.
The Treasury stated that this network procured goods worth tens of millions of dollars from Russia, including weapons, sensitive items, and stolen Ukrainian grain, which were subsequently shipped to Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. Under Executive Order 13324, assets tied to these addresses are now frozen, and U.S. persons are prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
