TechFlow news, on March 29, according to CNBC, President Trump has granted pardons to three co-founders and a former senior employee of the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX.
The three co-founders—Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed—previously pleaded guilty to a series of federal criminal charges related to money laundering and failure to operate an effective regulatory compliance program at the exchange.
Reed pleaded guilty in 2022 to violating the Bank Secrecy Act and agreed to pay a $10 million penalty. Prosecutors had accused the individuals of effectively operating BitMEX as a "money laundering platform," calling their claims of exiting the U.S. market "false."
