TechFlow news, March 27 — Hurun Research Institute released the "Hurun Global Rich List 2025," showing that the number of billionaires worldwide reached a record high of 3,442, an increase of 163 individuals (up 5%) compared to last year. At age 53, Elon Musk reclaimed the title of the world's richest person for the fourth time in five years, with his fortune rising 82% to 3.07 trillion RMB, driven by Tesla's soaring stock price following Donald Trump's election victory. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, ranked second with 1.94 trillion RMB, while Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg entered the top three for the first time with 1.77 trillion RMB.
Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, saw his wealth rise to 160 billion RMB, maintaining his position as the wealthiest individual in the cryptocurrency sector. Brian Armstrong of Coinbase experienced a 72% increase in wealth, reaching 80 billion RMB. Bitcoin holders also saw substantial gains: Michael Saylor of Strategy saw his wealth nearly triple to 65 billion RMB, while the Winklevoss twins of Gemini exchange almost doubled their fortune to 28 billion RMB each. On average, net worths in the cryptocurrency sector surged 80% year-on-year.
AI leaders stood out prominently: Liang Wenfeng, founder of Hangzhou-based DeepSeek, and Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI, made their debut on the Hurun Global Rich List with fortunes of 33 billion and 13 billion RMB respectively. Additionally, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, saw his wealth grow nearly threefold to 935 billion RMB, securing him the 11th spot globally.
Notably, Donald Trump became the wealthiest U.S. president in history, with his fortune nearly tripling to 52.5 billion RMB, placing him within the top 500 of the Hurun Global Rich List, primarily due to his 53% stake in Truth Social.
