TechFlow reported on March 19 that according to the Ethereum Foundation's official blog, Ethereum has launched a new testnet called Hoodi. The Pectra network upgrade is scheduled to be activated on March 26 and will gradually replace the existing Holesky testnet.
This move comes after Holesky experienced significant inactive validator leak issues in its recovery mechanism. Although the network has regained finality, exited validators require approximately one year to be fully removed from the validator set, making Holesky unsuitable for testing a complete validator lifecycle within a reasonable timeframe.
According to the announcement, the Holesky testnet will continue to be supported until September 2025. Except for validator exits, all other Pectra features can still be tested on Holesky. Going forward, validators and staking providers should use Hoodi for validator testing.
