TechFlow News, March 17 — According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Seok-hwan, representative of Wemix Foundation, the blockchain subsidiary of Wemade, admitted during an emergency meeting that approximately 8.65 million WEMIX tokens (worth about $6.22 million) were lost due to a hacking incident.
The hacker attacked the Play Bridge Vault system on February 28 by stealing authentication keys from the NFT platform "Nile." Kim explained that the delayed notification was due to concerns over triggering further attacks and market panic, emphasizing that they "absolutely did not consider or attempt to cover up the incident."
Wemix has reported the case to the police and launched a 10 billion KRW buyback program to protect investors. The company plans to fully restore services by March 21 and will improve its crisis response protocols, including investor communication mechanisms. The Korea Digital Asset Exchange Association has currently designated WEMIX as a trading alert project and suspended deposits.
