TechFlow news — On March 13, according to The Block, the development team behind Bankrbot, a tool that allows X users to directly issue meme coins on the platform, has reconfigured its system to stop responding to commands from Grok, the AI model developed by Elon Musk's xAI. Previously, interactions between Grok and Bankrbot had resulted in the creation of 17 tokens, with the most notable, the DRB token, briefly reaching a market capitalization exceeding $30 million.
The incident began in early March when user @coin_domin on X requested that Grok suggest a token name for Bankrbot. Grok proposed creating "DebtReliefBot" (DRB), after which Bankrbot executed the request, issuing the token via Clanker, an automated token deployment tool on the Base blockchain.
On-chain data shows that the wallet associated with Grok has accumulated over $500,000 in fees from these transactions. Bankrbot’s anonymous founder stated the wallet would soon become a millionaire. However, due to concerns about Grok’s inability to responsibly manage its own wallet and safeguard funds, the developers decided to disable the mechanism that responds to Grok’s commands.
