TechFlow reported on March 12 that, according to Bitcoin Magazine, at the "Bitcoin For America" summit, Republican Congressman Nick Begich of Alaska announced he will introduce the Bitcoin Act of 2025 in the U.S. House of Representatives. This bill is an updated version of Senator Lummis's proposal from last year, suggesting that the United States acquire one million bitcoins (without adding burden to taxpayers) and protect American citizens' rights to self-custody bitcoin.
"The bill explicitly protects individuals' freedom to own, hold, and transact bitcoin," said Congressman Begich. "It treats self-custody as a fundamental right."
