TechFlow News — On March 6, according to CoinDesk, Sam Altman’s blockchain project World Network has launched a new feature: World Chat, officially entering the instant messaging space. This new functionality, available as a “Mini App” accessible through the World App wallet, will offer special features to holders of the World Network digital passport. The digital passport allows users to obtain a verified "proof of personhood" account via iris scanning. World Chat represents World's latest effort to help people distinguish between bots and humans in the AI era.
In a statement, Tools for Humanity, the company developing the platform, said: "By connecting World ID, World Chat lets you know when you're chatting with a verified real human." Users who haven't used the World iris-scanning Orb can still access the chat feature. The new messaging app draws design inspiration from Apple's iMessage—conversations with verified World ID holders appear in blue chat bubbles with a distinctive World ID gem icon in the top right corner, while chats with unverified accounts appear in gray bubbles without the gem.
Tiago Sada, Head of Product at Tools for Humanity, shared: "The World App has grown rapidly over the past year, and we've consistently received requests for a direct messaging feature. We believe this is a more natural and engaging way to perform actions like sending funds, compared to simply initiating a wallet transaction."
World Chat will be available to Android and iPhone iOS users starting this Thursday, March 7. Additionally, World is partnering with the social protocol Friends With Benefits, along with Alchemy, Bain Crypto Capital, Blockchain Capital, and Variant Fund, to launch an incubator program called World Build. The program includes hackathons, builder workshops, and demo days aimed at encouraging developers to create "Mini Apps."
