TechFlow news, March 5 — According to the Wall Street Journal, sources said U.S. and Canadian officials are discussing lowering or removing the tariffs imposed by President Trump on Tuesday, adding that an agreement could potentially be reached as early as Wednesday. U.S. and Canadian officials have remained in contact throughout Tuesday, and it was noted that Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau might also speak on Wednesday regarding the tariff issue.
Earlier, U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick said on Tuesday that Trump might be able to "reach some agreements" with Canada and Mexico to ease the 25% tariffs imposed by the U.S. earlier that day. Lutnick also spoke with Doug Ford, premier of Ontario—the most populous province in Canada. A senior Canadian official said Lutnick spoke with Canadian Finance Minister LeBlanc late Tuesday evening.
