TechFlow news — On February 27, according to Jinshi Data, Wang Wentao, China's Minister of Commerce, sent a letter to the newly appointed U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, expressing China's concerns regarding the U.S. imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese products.
Wang Wentao emphasized that recently the U.S. has imposed an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports under pretexts such as fentanyl-related issues. China firmly opposes this move and has taken corresponding countermeasures, which are necessary steps to safeguard China's legitimate rights and interests.
Wang also noted that President Trump signed the "America First" Trade Policy Memorandum on January 20, launching multiple investigations targeting China. He urged the U.S. side to conduct assessments and investigations in an objective, rational, and professional manner with greater transparency. It is normal for differences to exist between China and the U.S. in economic and trade areas, and both sides should resolve their respective concerns through equal dialogue and consultations.
