TechFlow news — according to The Paper, the kick-off meeting for the Supreme People's Court's 2024 Major Judicial Research Project titled "Research on the Disposal of Virtual Currency Involved in Cases" was held on February 23 at the Beijing Third Intermediate People's Court. This project is jointly undertaken by the Beijing Third Intermediate People's Court and Renmin University of China. Zhai Chao, Deputy Director of the Criminal Division III of the Supreme People's Court, attended the meeting and emphasized that the research should highlight distinctive features and ensure its findings meet practical needs.
Yang Dong, Dean of the Law School at Renmin University of China, stated that the project not only explores disposal mechanisms for virtual currency involved in cases but also serves as a breakthrough point for establishing and improving China’s regulatory framework over virtual currency, with significant implications for national financial security. Xue Chunjiang, President of the Beijing Third Intermediate People's Court, noted that the court has handled multiple virtual currency-related cases in recent years, actively cultivating landmark cases, clarifying adjudication rules, and conducting extensive preliminary research. The seminar also drew participation from representatives of institutions including the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Economic Crime Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, China University of Political Science and Law, and the Beijing Property Rights Exchange.
