TechFlow news, on February 24, according to Cointelegraph, the Georgia State Senate introduced Bill 228 (SB 228), proposing to amend Section 50-17-3 of the state's code regarding state custodial agencies. The bill would authorize the State Custodial Committee to allow the state treasury to invest in bitcoin.
The bill requires the state treasury to establish policies and procedures for receiving, storing, and transacting bitcoin, and stipulates that any bitcoin held by the state government must be managed in accordance with these policies. Introduced by Senator Esteves of District 35 and four other senators, the bill is currently awaiting consideration by the Georgia General Assembly.
