TechFlow news — Bybit CEO Ben Zhou said during an X Spaces session on February 22, as reported by Cointelegraph, that Bybit will attempt to recover the stolen funds through bounty programs, cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and discussions with the Ethereum Foundation on potential solutions. When asked whether he supported rolling back the Ethereum blockchain to a state prior to the hack, Zhou responded: "This isn't something one person can decide. In the spirit of blockchain, perhaps it should be decided through community voting—but I'm not sure."
Notably, Ethereum previously underwent a "rollback" following the 2016 DAO hack, during which approximately $60 million worth of ETH was stolen. That incident led to a hard fork in the Ethereum blockchain, splitting it into Ethereum Classic—which retained the original chain including the illicit transactions—and the current mainstream Ethereum network.
