TechFlow news, on February 20, according to Jinshi Data, a person familiar with the matter said the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will lay off about 6,700 people on Thursday. This restructuring could leave the agency short-staffed during the critical tax filing season. The employees being cut are probationary workers who typically have been with the agency for one or two years and receive fewer job protections than permanent staff. The IRS has approximately 17,000 probationary employees.
