TechFlow reported on February 18 that Ethereum core developer Justin Drake disclosed significant progress at the first Beam Chain community meeting, though the project must change its name due to trademark issues.
The meeting revealed participation from 14 consensus layer teams spanning all continents except Antarctica, using development languages including Zig, C, C++, and C#. The session introduced eight new teams, support from six mainnet consensus layer teams, and two newly joined Ethereum Foundation coordinators.
Drake stated that the project is a multi-year initiative aimed at fundamentally upgrading Ethereum's L1 infrastructure. The second community meeting will be held on February 28 at 14:00 UTC, focusing on technical advancements such as post-quantum signatures.
