TechFlow news — On February 16, according to the Office of the President of Argentina: "On October 19, 2024, President Javier Milei held a meeting in Argentina with representatives of KIP Protocol. During the meeting, the company's representatives presented their intention to develop a project named 'Viva la Libertad' ('Long Live Liberty'), aimed at leveraging blockchain technology to provide financing for private enterprises in Argentina.
This meeting has been officially recorded in the public hearing registry. Participants included the President of the Nation, KIP Protocol representatives Mauricio Novelli and Julian Peh, as well as presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni.
In this context, on January 30, 2025, the President met at the Casa Rosada (the presidential palace) with Hayden Mark Davis. According to the introduction by KIP Protocol’s representatives, Mr. Davis will provide technical infrastructure for the project. Mr. Davis has never had any affiliation or relationship with the Argentine government; he was recommended by KIP Protocol representatives as a project partner.
Finally, yesterday, the President posted a message on his personal social media account announcing the launch of the KIP Protocol project, similar to how he routinely supports many entrepreneurs hoping to launch initiatives in Argentina to create jobs and attract investment. However, due to the widespread attention triggered by this announcement, and to prevent speculation and further misinformation, the President decided to remove the post.
Given these circumstances, President Javier Milei has decided to immediately refer the matter to the Anti-Corruption Office (OA) to determine whether any member of the national government—including the President himself—engaged in improper conduct related to this incident.
Additionally, the President has decided to establish an Investigation Task Force (UTI) under the Presidency. This task force will include representatives from agencies and departments related to crypto assets, financial activities, money laundering, and other relevant fields, integrating information to carry out an urgent investigation into the launch of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA and all associated companies or individuals.
All information gathered during the investigation will be transferred to judicial authorities to determine whether any companies or individuals linked to the KIP Protocol project are suspected of criminal activity.
President Milei has taken concrete action to demonstrate his commitment to uncovering the truth, pledging to thoroughly investigate this matter until full clarity is achieved."
