TechFlow news, on February 12, according to Reuters citing The New York Times, Alexander Vinnik, a Russian citizen who once operated BTC-e, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, will be released by the United States in exchange for the release of American citizen Marc Fogel.
Vinnik was arrested in 2017 after being accused of laundering $4 billion through the BTC-e exchange. In May 2023, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering and had faced up to 20 years in prison.
