TechFlow news, February 8 — According to Cryptoslate, Russian legislative member Anton Gorelkin stated on Telegram that Bitcoin miners have expressed concerns over the government's requirement to register their wallet addresses in a national system.
Miners worry that if wallet address information were to be leaked, it could be exploited by geopolitical adversaries and lead to sanctions. In response, Russia’s tax authorities said the relevant data is stored in a separate internal security system with strictly controlled access. Notably, these concerns arise as demand for industrial-scale mining equipment in Russia has tripled in 2024, and the government is pushing to establish a nationwide registration system for cryptocurrency mining hardware.
