TechFlow reported, citing CoinDesk, that mining firm Riot Platforms mined 527 bitcoins in January, a 2% increase month-on-month and the highest monthly output since December 2023. In contrast, other major miners generally saw production declines: Marathon dropped 13% to 750 BTC, and CleanSpark fell 6% to 626 BTC.
Data showed that IREN, Core Scientific, Cipher Mining, Bitfarms, and Hut 8 recorded month-on-month production decreases of 2%, 13%, 7%, 5%, and 31%, respectively. Riot CEO Jason Les stated the company achieved two consecutive months of production growth despite continuously rising network difficulty. Bitcoin network difficulty is expected to hit a new all-time high on February 9, surpassing the previous record of 108.11T.
