TechFlow news: On February 6, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on X stating that the values of the 2013 era were correct, including support for free speech, entrepreneurial innovation, opposition to monopolies and vendor lock-in, support for democratic systems, opposition to greed, and opposition to achieving national security through oppression.
In response to concerns that democracy may lead to populism, Vitalik said that the purpose of democracy is not to produce optimal outcomes, but rather to prevent the worst outcomes. While both democratic and non-democratic systems may head in undesirable directions, the latter lack a safety valve mechanism.
