TechFlow reports that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has tweeted that the Pectra upgrade is expected to launch in March, with a key update increasing the blob target from 3 to 6, effectively doubling the capacity of L2 networks.
Vitalik suggested using a token holder voting mechanism to determine the blob target, allowing it to be flexibly adjusted as technology advances without waiting for a hard fork. He also expressed gratitude to developers working on EIP-4444 (historical data expiry), statelessness, and client efficiency upgrades—efforts that enhance L1 decentralization friendliness. These improvements will provide crucial support for Ethereum L1 scalability.
