TechFlow news, on February 1, according to Jinshi Data, OpenAI has launched a new lightweight artificial intelligence model, which is said to be capable of human-like reasoning and improved efficiency. The product will be closely watched following China's DeepSeek releasing its open-source model. Named "o3-mini," the model released on Friday can be used for free.
In December last year, OpenAI first announced plans for o3-mini, along with the more powerful o3. Both models are designed to answer complex questions related to programming, mathematics, and science. The launch timing comes as expected—OpenAI stated last year it would release o3-mini by the end of January, followed shortly by o3. However, the industry has been impressed by DeepSeek's progress, particularly due to its significantly lower costs, sparking widespread discussion. OpenAI is currently seeking to raise $40 billion at a $300 billion valuation.
