TechFlow reported on January 26 that Roger Ver, an early Bitcoin investor known as "Bitcoin Jesus," posted a video on social media appealing to Donald Trump for help. Ver is currently facing extradition from Spain, where he is accused of failing to declare capital gains from Bitcoin sales in 2017 and underreporting his Bitcoin holdings when renouncing his U.S. citizenship in 2014.
Ver stated that he was the world's first investor in the Bitcoin ecosystem, emphasizing that he gave up his U.S. citizenship out of fear of political persecution. He now faces a potential maximum sentence of 109 years in prison. He urged Trump to intervene and end what he described as a "legal battle," allowing him to return to the United States to continue investing and contributing to economic development.
