TechFlow news — On January 24, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin published a blog post discussing Ethereum's scaling strategy for 2025 and beyond. He emphasized Ethereum's unique advantages in both decentralization principles and practical application value, noting that the success of Layer 2 (L2) solutions validates the development philosophy of the Ethereum ecosystem.
Vitalik pointed out two major current challenges: scalability scale and heterogeneity issues—including standards, interoperability, proof system security, user experience, and economic models. He argued that abandoning L2 in favor of a 2016-style L1 sharding approach would be a mistake, and instead called for increased investment in areas like interoperability and ZK-EVMs.
Specific plans include increasing data block capacity, enhancing interoperability and security infrastructure, and optimizing the economic model. Vitalik expressed optimism about Ethereum’s future development, stressing the continued commitment to the L2 scaling roadmap.
