TechFlow news, on January 21, according to official documents, Trump announced the signing of an executive order establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to implement the President's DOGE agenda by modernizing federal technology and software to maximize government efficiency and productivity. The structure of DOGE includes:
- Reorganization and renaming of the United States Digital Service: now renamed the United States DOGE Service (USDS), to be located within the Executive Office of the President.
- Establishment of a temporary organization: A USDS Administrator shall be established within the Executive Office of the President, reporting directly to the White House Chief of Staff. Under Title 5 of the U.S. Code, Section 3161, a temporary organization named the "United States DOGE Service Temporary Organization" is established within the USDS. This temporary organization shall be led by the USDS Administrator and shall focus on advancing the President’s 18-month DOGE agenda. The United States DOGE Service Temporary Organization shall terminate on July 4, 2026. The termination of this temporary organization shall not be construed as implying the termination, weakening, or modification of any other authority or provision under this order.
- DOGE Teams: Heads of agencies shall consult with the USDS to establish within their respective agencies a DOGE team consisting of at least four employees, which may include Special Government Employees appointed or assigned within thirty days of the issuance of this order. Agency heads shall select DOGE team members in consultation with the USDS Administrator. Each DOGE team shall typically include a DOGE Team Lead, an engineer, a human resources specialist, and a lawyer. Agency heads shall ensure that the DOGE Team Lead coordinates with the USDS and advises their respective agency head on implementing the President’s DOGE agenda.
