TechFlow reports on January 16, according to The Block, Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter's data shows that over 30% of Ethereum validators have expressed support for increasing the block gas limit. The current Ethereum gas limit is 30 million, with plans to raise it to 40 million units. Validators can signal their support by modifying node configurations, without requiring a hard fork. Once support exceeds 50%, the block gas limit will automatically adjust to the new level.
Last year, the "Pump the Gas" initiative, launched by Ethereum developer Eric Connor and former MakerDAO smart contract lead Mariano Conti, aimed to raise community awareness about the importance of increasing the gas limit. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has also supported a 33% increase in the gas limit.
