TechFlow news — On January 16, according to Cointelegraph, Centrifuge's General Counsel Eli Cohen said in an interview that real-world asset tokenization (RWA) is becoming a key bridge connecting traditional financial institutions with decentralized finance (DeFi), and will see significant development in 2025 by enhancing liquidity, accessibility, and transparency.
Cohen noted that currently RWA primarily supports major stablecoins in the DeFi ecosystem through tokenized government bonds. Against the backdrop of high Treasury yields and intensifying competition among stablecoin issuers, the market will shift toward "higher-yielding yet still safe investments." He expects that growing demand for yield will drive the emergence of more diversified tokenized products.
On regulation, Cohen predicts that the new Trump administration will publicly reject restrictive policies such as Operation Chokepoint 2.0, which would help open up banking and brokerage channels and foster the creation of more tokenized offerings.
