TechFlow News, according to RedNet, Hunan Hengnan police successfully cracked a virtual currency theft case in January 2025, arresting six suspects led by Liao Mouhong and Tang Moujin. The incident originated in November 2024, when victim Mr. Peng was conducting an in-person USDT transaction. A criminal gang used a pinhole camera to secretly record his account verification code and subsequently stole virtual currency worth 1.2 million RMB from his account through technical means.
This marks the first virtual currency theft case in Hengnan County. Through coordinated efforts involving criminal investigation, cyber security, and the Big Data Practical Operations Center, police apprehended the suspects on January 2, 2025, in Linwu County, Chenzhou City. All six suspects have been criminally detained in accordance with the law, and the case is under further investigation.
