TechFlow reported on January 10 that FOX journalist Eleanor Terrett reported the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will establish its first subcommittee dedicated to cryptocurrency, modeled after the Republican Financial Services subcommittee set up by Patrick McHenry in 2023.
Senator Cynthia Lummis has been tentatively selected as chair of the subcommittee, pending confirmation by a full committee vote. According to Senate aides, votes on Lummis and new Republican and Democratic members are expected next Thursday, coinciding with the nomination hearing for Scott Turner, President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
