TechFlow news: On December 29, the Central Bank of Russia announced that Sberbank, TBank, and Tochka Bank have joined the digital ruble pilot program, participating in actual digital ruble transactions. To date, 12 out of the 22 banks planning to join have already taken part.
The digital ruble, serving as the third form of legal tender in Russia, will be gradually rolled out and is expected to become widely adopted among systemically important financial institutions starting July 1, 2025. Banks that fail to prepare by then will face penalty fines.
