While cryptocurrencies are not yet legalized in Ethiopia, the central bank stated it is closely monitoring global developments in the crypto space, which may signal a potential shift in the country's stance toward digital currency policy.
As Africa's second most populous country, Ethiopia has previously taken a cautious approach toward cryptocurrencies. This policy move indicates the country is preparing for a possible regulatory framework.
