TechFlow news, December 23 — The Wall Street Journal reported that Google's breakthrough with its new quantum computing chip, Willow, has raised concerns about the potential threat quantum computing poses to Bitcoin's security. Skip Sanzeri, co-founder of quantum security startup QuSecure, warned that compared to the heavily regulated and secured traditional banking system, the decentralized Bitcoin ecosystem could become a prime target for hackers. Since cryptocurrencies lack compensation protection mechanisms, a breakthrough in quantum computing capable of breaking current encryption algorithms could result in trillions of dollars in losses.
