TechFlow news — On December 19, according to CoinDesk, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) has filed a lawsuit seeking up to two years in prison for Craig Wright over allegations of contempt of court. In its court filings, COPA proposed an initial 18-month imprisonment for Wright, with an additional six months if he fails to cease his ongoing violations of the court injunction.
In March this year, UK High Court Judge James Mellor officially ruled that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, and issued an injunction prohibiting him from pursuing related litigation in the UK or other jurisdictions. At the time, Mellor warned: "Once the dust settles, Wright is likely to ramp up his public campaign again." Nevertheless, in October, Wright initiated another lawsuit claiming intellectual property rights over the Bitcoin system, seeking damages as high as £900 million (approximately $1.1 billion USD).
