TechFlow news — On December 17, according to The New York Times, relations between President-elect Trump and Federal Reserve Chair Powell could become further strained in the new year, but Fed staff appear to be taking precautions regarding political discussions. At the Fed's headquarters, the mood is cautious, and references to a potential Trump 2.0 administration are rare.
Citing an anonymous economist, The New York Times reported that Federal Reserve analysts are even avoiding casual conversations about tariffs in emails or Microsoft Teams meetings, fearing such communications could be leaked and used to portray the central bank as "anti-Trump." That’s not all. According to insiders, the tone of hallway conversations has clearly turned more negative, though more often than not these are just basic small talks that do not involve politics.
