TechFlow news — On December 16, Mark Longo (@Squirrel_Dad12), owner of the famous squirrel Peanut, announced that he has sent a cease-and-desist letter through his law firm to Binance. The legal notice states that Binance has used multiple intellectual property assets without authorization, including the PNUT trademark and the image of a cowboy-hat-wearing squirrel.
According to the letter, Longo has been using the PNUT-related trademarks in the United States since April 2017, primarily for educational and nonprofit initiatives related to animal welfare, wildlife, and nature conservation. If the infringement is proven to be willful, damages could reach up to $150,000 per violation. The attorney demands that Binance respond and halt all infringing activities by December 31.
