TechFlow news — On December 13, according to The Wall Street Journal, Trump's team is exploring whether the president-elect could eliminate financial regulatory agencies or merge them.
People familiar with the matter said that advisers to President-elect Trump, during interviews with potential candidates for banking regulatory positions, have asked whether agencies such as the Department of Government Efficiency could abolish the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
Trump’s advisers have also questioned potential candidates for the FDIC and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency about whether deposit insurance could be integrated into the Treasury Department. Additionally, plans have been proposed to merge or comprehensively reform the FDIC, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Federal Reserve.
