The new model is specifically designed for AI Agents. Google stated that the 2.0 version has already been provided to some developers for internal testing and is being rapidly integrated into product lines such as Gemini and Search.
The new version achieves significant breakthroughs in multimodal capabilities and native tool usage, supporting multimodal input and output of images, videos, and audio, as well as controllable multilingual text-to-speech functionality. Performance tests show that the Flash experimental version comprehensively surpasses Gemini 1.5 Pro in areas including image recognition, video understanding, programming, and mathematics, with processing speed doubled.
