TechFlow news: On December 11, according to Reuters, Giulio Centemero, a lawmaker from the ruling League party in Italy, and Deputy Treasury Minister Federico Freni issued a joint statement announcing a significant rollback of their previously proposed increase on cryptocurrency taxes. The original plan aimed to raise capital gains tax on cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin from 26% to 42% in the 2025 budget, but due to strong opposition from the industry and internal divisions within the governing coalition,
the government has shifted its stance. Government sources revealed that the final proposal may retain the current 26% tax rate. Centemero and Freni emphasized, "There should be no bias against cryptocurrencies." The budget bill must be approved by Parliament before the end of December.
