TechFlow news, on December 4, according to Yonhap News Agency, following South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's imposition and subsequent lifting of emergency martial law, senior presidential staff including the chief of staff indicated their intention to resign collectively on the 4th. The Presidential Office announced to press correspondents that directors of all offices within the Presidential Office and the chiefs of secretaries have collectively expressed their intent to resign.
Those who submitted resignations include Chief of Presidential Staff Jung Jin-suk, Director of the National Security Office Shin Won-sik, Policy Office Director Sung Tae-yoon, as well as officials at or above the level of chief secretary. It is reported that senior staff members at or above the chief secretary level held a meeting chaired by Jung Jin-suk in the morning and agreed upon collective resignation. If all senior aides resign, it could paralyze operations at the Presidential Office, so whether Yoon will accept all resignations remains uncertain.
In addition, President Yoon’s originally scheduled morning meeting to review anti-drug enforcement efforts was postponed due to the martial law controversy. Other planned activities for President Yoon are also likely to be affected.
