TechFlow news, November 30 — According to IT Home, five major Canadian media organizations—the Canadian Press, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), Torstar, Postmedia, and The Globe and Mail—have filed a lawsuit in the Ontario Superior Court, accusing OpenAI of extensively scraping their copyrighted content without permission or compensation to train AI models such as ChatGPT. The 84-page legal filing seeks damages and a permanent injunction against OpenAI’s unauthorized use of their content. In response, OpenAI stated that its model training relies on publicly available data, adheres to fair use principles, and offers publishers content attribution and opt-out options.
