TechFlow news, on November 30, according to Cailian Press, Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, said that during Thanksgiving, members of his party received "violent threats," including bomb warnings and false reports to law enforcement intended to provoke SWAT teams into raiding lawmakers' homes. Similar incidents had previously targeted cabinet nominees of President-elect Donald Trump.
The attacks against Democratic lawmakers included "detailed threats about placing pipe bombs in mailboxes and attempts to hoax SWAT teams into responding, with all messages signed off with 'MAGA'," Jeffries said in a statement on Friday. The term "MAGA" refers to former President Trump's political slogan "Make America Great Again." Jeffries noted that due to swift responses from law enforcement, no devices were found, and members of Congress and their families remained safe throughout the holiday period.
Some Democratic lawmakers from Connecticut said they were targeted in the Thanksgiving incidents, including Representatives Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro, and Jahana Hayes. They posted the threats they received on the social media platform X.
