TechFlow News — On November 29, Binance issued a security alert via its official blog, warning that scammers are impersonating Binance representatives on platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp, creating fake groups to conduct fraudulent activities.
Binance disclosed a recent case in which a fraudster using the name "Michael Hewson" impersonated a Binance analyst on WhatsApp, created a fake group, and randomly invited users to join, luring them with fake anniversary prizes. Although the scammer shared authentic content from Binance Academy to boost credibility, the group exhibited several red flags, including a distorted Binance logo and grammatical and punctuation errors in the text.
Binance emphasized that it has never appointed any official analysts to provide investment advice to users. The exchange urges all users to verify the authenticity of channels through Binance’s official verification tool (Binance Verify) and remain vigilant against such scams.
