TechFlow News, November 28 — According to DL News, Jackie Sawicky, founder of the Texas Anti-Crypto Mining Coalition, announced the dissolution of the group on Wednesday, ending its three-year campaign against cryptocurrency mining. The coalition, which had 800 members, previously staged multiple protests against Bitcoin mining operations in the region.
Data shows that Bitcoin mining firms in Texas currently consume 2,600 megawatts of electricity—equivalent to the power needs of 2.6 million households. Sawicky stated that pro-crypto policies expected under President-elect Trump will make anti-mining efforts even more difficult. She noted that the Texas government has been attracting mining companies with cheap energy and favorable policies, exacerbating strain on the local power grid and water resources.
