TechFlow News, November 27 — According to CoinDesk, Japanese social media giant Line plans to launch a decentralized application (Dapp) platform by the end of January 2025. Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, revealed that around 30 Dapps will be available at launch, with plans to expand to 150 by the end of the first quarter.
The platform will target Line’s global 196 million monthly active users, primarily in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia. Seo said the platform will focus on gaming applications, while also including social networking, DeFi, and AI-powered chat apps. This move marks the latest development of social media platforms entering blockchain technology, following Telegram's launch of games such as Catizen and Hamster Kombat on the TON blockchain.
Line previously launched an NFT marketplace in April 2022. Seo noted that earlier NFT projects failed to achieve mass adoption due to suboptimal user experience and interface design, as well as users viewing NFTs merely as investment instruments rather than proof of ownership.
