TechFlow reports on November 26 that the case of James Howells, a Newport, Wales-based IT engineer who lost a hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoins, has seen new developments. His former girlfriend, Halfina Eddy-Evans, recently spoke out publicly for the first time, confirming she discarded the bitcoin-containing hard drive at Howells' request back in 2013.
Eddy-Evans stated: "He asked me to clear out items he didn't need, including that hard drive. It's not my fault." At the time, bitcoin was worth less than $1 each; today, those bitcoins would be valued at over $716 million.
Earlier reports indicated that Howells sued the city council for $647 million after losing the hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoins in a landfill site.
