TechFlow news, November 19 — According to Cointelegraph, on November 18, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly sentenced Heather Morgan (the rapper "Razzlekhan"), one of the suspects in the Bitfinex hacking case, to 18 months in prison during a hearing in Washington, D.C.
In August 2023, Morgan pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and fraud. She is the wife and accomplice of Ilya Lichtenstein, the hacker who stole 120,000 bitcoins from cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex in 2016 and laundered the proceeds.
On November 14, Judge Kollar-Kotelly sentenced Lichtenstein to five years in prison—significantly below the 20-year maximum allowed under sentencing guidelines. Prosecutors noted that the hacker provided "substantial assistance" in other investigations and had no prior criminal record.
