TechFlow News — On November 19, according to Cointelegraph, DMM Crypto, the blockchain gaming and NFT division of Japanese cryptocurrency exchange operator DMM, will shut down its Seamoon Protocol. The company announced that no new services will be added to the ecosystem, and future arrangements for existing platform services are currently under discussion.
Seamoon Protocol is powered by the SMP token on the DM2 Verse within the Oasys L2 blockchain. The Seamoon Portal is a Web3 gaming and content site featuring games and anime produced by Japanese e-commerce and internet group DMM.com.
In August, DMM Crypto partnered with stablecoin platform Progmat to launch its own stablecoin, intended for use alongside fiat currency and credit cards to enhance the financial outlook of the ecosystem. However, according to a statement from DMM Crypto shared by Japanese financial blogger Norbert Gehrke: "Due to rapid changes in the recent business environment posing challenges to the project's sustainability, DMM Crypto has decided to terminate the project earlier than planned."
Kanpani Girl Re: Bloom, which debuted in October as the first of five planned games to operate under the protocol, will cease operations by January 31, 2025, due to cost-cutting measures.
