TechFlow news, November 18 — According to TheVerge, a recent study by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) shows that since Elon Musk publicly endorsed Donald Trump's presidential campaign in July this year, the X platform appears to have undergone "platform-level" algorithmic adjustments, significantly boosting the visibility of posts from Musk and other conservative users.
The research data indicates that after July 13, Musk's posts saw a 138% surge in views and a 238% spike in reposts. Researchers Timothy Graham and Mark Andrejevic noted that this growth far exceeds the overall engagement trends on the platform. Other accounts leaning Republican also showed similar increases during the same period, though to a lesser extent.
Notably, both The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post have recently published similar findings suggesting a right-wing bias in X's algorithm. However, due to X's closure of its academic API access, research teams say data collection faces certain limitations.
